Located in the heart of the Julian Alps, this gem of Slovenia enchants with its emerald green lake, an isolated island with a church, and the magnificent medieval castle proudly standing on a cliff above the lake. Bled is a place that captivates you with its natural beauty, purity, and a wide range of cultural and sporting activities that will take your breath away.
Lake Bled is the most significant natural lake in Slovenia. It is located in the northwest of the country, at an elevation of 475 meters, nestled between the forested Julian Alps.
The lake is a flow-through type, with the Jezernica stream flowing out of it, while fresh water enters the lake from the Radovna River. From June to September, the water temperature hovers around 24 degrees Celsius.
The ideal way to experience the beauty of Bled from different angles is by walking around the lake. The paved path around Lake Bled is about 6 km long and takes you through diverse landscapes, from the dense shade of trees, over romantic wooden bridges, to expansive viewpoints offering views of the castle and the island. Regardless of the time of day or year, the walk around the lake is always a special experience.
A visit to Bled is not complete without trying Bled cream cakes, or Bled cream slices. This delightful, creamy dessert has become a symbol of Bled. At various locations, with different prices, you can enjoy this traditional treat, the taste and scent of which you will carry with you.
